How to Clean and Maintain Your Air Fryer the Right Way
 
          
        Why cleaning matters (and how often)
A clean air fryer cooks faster, stays odor-free, and lasts longer. Grease buildup can smoke, affect flavor, and damage the nonstick coating.
Simple schedule
- 
After every use: Quick wipe + basket wash 
- 
Weekly (or every 5–7 uses): Deep clean basket, drawer, crisper plate, heating area 
- 
Monthly: Full inspection (screws, cord, seals), odor reset 
What you’ll need
- 
Soft non-abrasive sponge or microfiber cloth 
- 
Mild dish soap (no bleach) 
- 
Warm water basin or sink 
- 
Soft brush / old toothbrush 
- 
White vinegar + baking soda (for odors & burnt grease) 
- 
Paper towels or drying rack 
- 
Optional: food-safe degreaser (non-caustic), wooden skewers/cotton swabs (for crevices) 
⚠️ Never use steel wool or abrasive powders—they scratch nonstick parts and void warranties.
Quick clean (after each use) — 5 minutes
- 
Unplug & cool the unit completely. 
- 
Remove crumbs: pull out basket/drawer; dump crumbs and oil safely. 
- 
Wash basket, crisper plate & drawer in warm soapy water with a soft sponge. (Dishwasher-safe parts? Check your manual—but hand-washing prolongs nonstick life.) 
- 
Wipe interior: damp cloth for walls & heating area cover (don’t splash water on the element). 
- 
Dry thoroughly before reassembling—moisture causes smoke and sticky residue next time. 
Deep clean (weekly)
- 
Soak parts (15–20 min): basket, drawer, crisper plate in warm water + 1 tsp dish soap. 
- 
Scrub gently: use a soft brush on mesh/crisper holes and seams. 
- 
Melt burnt-on grease: make a paste of baking soda + a few drops of water; apply to stubborn spots for 10 min, then wipe. 
- 
Heating element care: - 
Turn the unit upside down (cooled & unplugged). 
- 
Wipe the heating element with a barely damp cloth; use a toothbrush for carbon flecks. 
- 
Wipe dry immediately.

Exterior & control panel: microfiber cloth + a tiny drop of soap; finish with a dry wipe.

Re-season (optional): after drying, lightly mist the basket with high-smoke-point oil to protect the coating. 
Odor & smoke fixes
- 
Lingering smells: run the fryer empty at 180 °C / 356 °F for 3–4 min with 1 tbsp lemon juice in a small heat-safe ramekin in the basket; cool and wipe. 
- 
Heavy grease smoke: do a vinegar steam: ramekin with 2 tbsp vinegar + 2 tbsp water, run 160 °C / 320 °F for 5 min; cool and wipe. 
- 
Fish or curry smells: soak parts 20 min in warm water + 1 tsp baking soda. 
Protect your nonstick (make it last)
- 
Use silicone tongs and silicone liners/parchment with holes (never solid foil that blocks airflow). 
- 
Avoid aerosol sprays that contain propellants—use a mister or brush oil. 
- 
Don’t preheat empty at max heat for long periods (can bake grease residue onto surfaces). 
- 
Space food; overcrowding causes sticking and uneven browning. 
Troubleshooting guide
